Getting pinched on St. Patricks day for not wearing green actually started as tradition in England, not Ireland. But the original version of the prank was more than just a pinch for the unlucky fellow on the receiving end! Legend has it that the tradition began with none other that Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell, who kicked off the jolly English jape of everyone having to wear green, or we invade and occupy your country for 300 years. Oh, that famous English humor!
