Ghana is 57 today...happy independence anniversary celebration to every Ghanaian. We thank God for how far He has brought us as a people. My take on this special occassion is that we should be more nationalistic/patriotic to our dear nation now than weve ever been. We should all focus on building a better country that we can all be proud of. Appreciable number of our communities still lack basic amenities like good drinking water, good roads, hospitals, public toilet, schools, libraries etc. Even though weve made steady progress in many areas in our national life, there are more room for improvement. Many of our citizens are still battling with poverty, hunger and diseases. Some of our mothers are still dying during during child birth at the country side...Those put in power to run the affairs of the nation should not abuse it but rather use it to benefit all of us. As minority parties, we owe it as a duty to this nation to keep government on its toes without impeding good government programmes that will benefit the very people we are seeking to serve. As civil society organizations and think tanks, we shouldnt be partisan. We must focus on social and developmental challenges confronting our nation. As citizens especially workers, we should all perform our duties deligently to make sure that Ghana becomes a better place to live in. Lets focus on things that binds us and shun divisive attitudes. Whether you are from the north or south, christian or muslim or pagan, ndc or npp, we are all one people. Lets love ourselves and be more patriotic. God bless our homeland Ghana.
