Ghana welcome South African / Zim farmers. Ghana Government has earmarked 190 800 hectares of land in Tepa District in Central Ghana, to be given free to South African and Zimbabwean commercial farmers, on renewable 100yrs leases. Government concerns about their future food security and the promotion of sustainable agriculture for local Ghanaians by the sharing of Southern African knowledge they have with vast varieties of agricultural products are paramount - Ghanaian agriculture ministry said. Adding to Ghanas problem is the average age of farmers in Ghana is 55 years, whereas it is in Southern Africa it is just 34. They are hoping to attract 250 - 300 commercial farmers to the central region and create 15 000 jobs.
