Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek - 08 Days North of Nepals famous Lake city Pokhara ( 200 Kms west of Kathmandu) lies the Poon Hill Ghorepani trek.The Poon hill Ghorepani trek is an immensely popular short trek to the Annapurnas The breathtaking mountain scenery of whole Annapurna range and the beautiful ethnic Gurung villages justify the popularity of Ghorepani Poon hill trekking and is the bestseller among all our short trekking tours. Relatively easy trek includes walking along streams and forests for those who are looking for a few days close to nature, yet it is not far away and involves no high climbing.You absolutely have no risk of altitude sickness on this trek. Ghorepani trekking can be done all through the year although in monsoon ( july - Aug) it is not recommended. The poon hill ghorepani trek starts from Nayapul Crossing the suspension bridge over Modhi Khola river, after an hour of drive from Pokhara. We ascend through ethnic villages and farm terraces enjoying the views of Machhapuchare Towering above. On the second day we walk mostly through woods before we reach Ghorepani Village base camp of the Poon hill .Next morning we make an early climb of one hour to the nearby Poon hill for the spectacular view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna , Nilgiri, Fishtail and other famous mountains of the west region. The whole of Ghorepani is densely forested with rhododendron trees, the national flower of Nepal. Every spring it is tremendous scenery to watch these forests in bloom with the panorama of the high mountains on the skyline From Ghorepani we descend for the beautiful Gurung (name of a tribe) village of Ghandruk on the lap of the Annapurnas. The village is known for its traditional houses, rich culture and the great landscape. Walking down through the innumerable steps we make a loop at Birethanti and catch our vehicle for Pokhara at Nayapul.We trace back no part of the trail on this itinerary. On our whole trek, we use the mountain lodges called the tea houses for our food and accommodation. The Poon Hill Ghorepani trek combined with a two days of elephant back safari in the tropical Chitwan national park (5 hr of drive from Pokhara) makes an ideal Nepal holiday. You can see a great number of wild animals and birds including rhinos, crocodiles, deers, peacocks, leopards and if lucky even a Tiger! You will enjoy a canoe ride in Rapti river, visit baby elephants in elephant breeding centre and the safari trip will conclude with a bird watching tour, Chitwan national park alone has 450 species of birds! Our airport representative will pick up you and transfer to hotel in kathmandu. Day o2: Drive to Pokhara. (5/6 Hours drive) Stay overnight at Pokhara. Day 03: Pokhara - Naya Pul (bus) – Tirkhedunga (trek) 4-hour trek to Tikhedunga (1545 m). The trail winds its way through bamboo forests and passes by a spectacular waterfall. Day 04: Tirkhedunga - Ghorepani (2775 m) in 5hrs. The Annapurna South (7273m) and the Hiunchuli gradually unfold on this pleasant walk uphill through fields and pastures and later through rhododendrons and oak woods. Ghorepani was originally a horse watering post, which has evolved into an important crossroads for tourists and the numerous mule caravans on the Jomoson-Pokhara trip. Day 05: Ghorepani - Poon Hill (3210 m) - Tadapani (2540 m) in 6h. We leave early morning for Poon Hill, to catch the early morning sunlight on the panorama of peaks: Dhaulagiri, Annapurna’s, and Machhapuchare… This is an option but really worth the while. We then retrace our steps to Ghorepani and continue towards Tadapani through rhododendron woods.. Day 06: Tadapani - Ghandrung (1940m) 4 Hrs. The trail gently descends through a subtropical forest highlighted by huge bamboo massifs and giant rhododendrons. Gandrung is the main village of the Gurung tribe, warriors known for their contribution to the famous Gurkha regiments. Day 07: Gahndruk – Nayapul (5 Hrs) – Drive to Pokhara (2 Hrs) We continue our descent to the Modi Khola river end to nayapul then drive back to pokhara. Over night in Pokhara. Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu. Stay over night in Kathmandu.
