Ghost hunt at Delapre Abbey in Northampton on TV; Spooky happenings at Northamptons Delapre Abbey will be uncovered on channel Really. Hit TV show Most Haunted visited the said-to-be haunted house back in January, and the ghost hunt will be broadcasted. It will see Yvette Fielding and the team head off through the house for a ghost hunt with five members of the English Rugby Team, made up of Lee Dickson, Alex Corbisiero, Ben Foden, Dylan Hartley and Chris Ashton, as they investigate an all but forgotten piece of British history. Delapre Abbey is apparently full of both playful and evil spirits that give the team a night they will never forget. Founded as an English monastery of nuns in 1145, the abbey is situated in the meadows of the River Nene and was one of only two cluniac monasteries in England. At least a dozen nuns resided at the abbey at any one time, until 1538, when it was closed as a monastery. Over 100 years later Delapre saw the battle of Northampton between the Yorkists and the Lancastrians before being passed from family to family. It was eventually left 1940 and has been empty ever since. It’s no wonder that there have been alleged reports over the years of people hearing the ghostly battle cries of fallen soldiers late at night and many poltergeists are purported to wander the halls in search of peace or revenge. Reports of supposedly chanting nuns, soldiers on their way to battle, and a black dog that scours the hall in search of help means the building above the ground is a walk in the park compared to the dark and dingy cellars. The bowels of the building hold even more mysterious moving objects and unexplained scary voices - it’s no wonder some of the team begin to question whether they will be able to continue through the night. As the investigation takes a new turn when one of the rugby boys is seemingly given some information when the team use a ouija board that he will never forget, and what appears to be a poltergiest takes a dislike to the rest of team, the question on everybody’s lips is obviously who is going to scream first?
