Giving starts the receiving process There so much power in giving, giving out of love not compulsion, giving even when you have nothing...the works of your hands. When you open your hands and your heart to another person out of compassion, even out of worship for the Lord, you move the heart of God so much he releases blessings and abundance into your life.Just today I was reading about a remarkable event in 1st Kings that shows the power of giving. Solomon gave a 1000 burnt offerings God actually descended down on him and said, Ask whatever you want me to give you..such rare honour! To actually compel God to bless you. I am also moved by Solomons humility in his giving, God truly saw his heart. He asked for wisdom, the bible describes King Solomons wisdom as that of brilliant intellect, there was none like him nor will there ever be (1 Kings3:12). But you know what is so significant, God blessed Solomon with more...since you have not asked for this, not for long life or wealth for yourself..I will give what you have not asked for both wealth and honor. And boy was Solomons wealth and splendor mind boggling! This showed me the power of giving, many a times we tend to think twice about giving even a cent to that person on the street who barely has enough to eat everyday, we turn a blind eye to that granny we always see in the village who is struggling to raise her grandchildren...if it has nothing to do with me,then its not my problem so we think, tithing is such a taboo when the pastor starts talking about it we feel like running away and honestly I am just as guilty of the above but I am making changes, are you? I want to challenge you to give from your earnings on a monthly basis even if you are a student, volunteer your time for a good a cause and see what God will do for you :)
