Glenaeon Intensives January 2014 We would like to invite all - TopicsExpress

Glenaeon Intensives January 2014 We would like to invite all teachers and previous participants to the 2014 Curriculum Intensives to be held at Glenaeon School from Sunday January 12th to Friday January 17th. A full program will be available shortly, topics to be covered include Main Lesson development, the deepening of Music and Speech in the school. Curriculum questions on the forming of the Main Lesson are paramount even when a curriculum resource is available. The inner essence of what is taught can be continually deepened and the lesson process as it is created for the children can be made more potent. Lectures will address this process. Speech: We have been speaking for the last few years with those who could deepen the speech work and have invited Linden McCall a speech artist and experienced Class Teacher to give one lecture and a session for each group. The Art of Speech was inspired by the school movement. Each school in the early years of Steiner Education had a Speech Teacher and all teachers did the speech exercises to learn to use the breath. The speech comes through the presence of the sound not through the astral element. Music: As well as leading the singing in the morning Christian Lillicrap will give a lecture on the deeper background to Music and human experience as well as pedagogical issues. Inner Development will move further now into lesson preparation through the faculties of Imagination and Inspiration which can be supported by deepened understanding and practices. Lisa Romero recently attended a world-wide colloquium on Inner Development at the Goetheanum and will review further aspects of the path. We will start the week with a short course on Sunday from 3-7pm for teachers new to Steiner Education. This will not have any extra cost but will allow us to work more deeply during the week without having to go back over basics or answer questions on introductory ideas. The overall Steiner Curriculum, the Main Lesson, Morning Circle, Child Development and short introductions to what Form Drawing and Eurythmy are will be given. Please email if you wish to be included in this session. We have begun planning as tutors and are mindful of the number of teachers returning to the next class, ever stronger and more experienced. This is wonderful and you all now have an available curriculum and resources, so we wish to clarify curriculum understanding, support research, answer questions and deepen the work. We have identified work to be done * extending, deepening and supporting the understanding of the background lectures * elaborating the process of creating an enlivened lesson from subject indications through an inner process of imagination and inspiration so that the artistic work of the second day is a true experience of the content * showing what it all may look like in different ways in a book * discussing how faculties evolve in the children through the work * understanding the connection of the thinking, feeling and will in the lesson process * focusing on Speech which is a class teachers role and Music which often needs support Please email [email protected] if you have request for specific feedback or topics to be covered in your year as tutors have begun preparing. Bookings are already open and the Early Bird price of $500 remains in force until November 1st.
