Glitter in the Grass By Christy, at Paper Graphics We live in a holler in western Kansas, really! The wind blows more, the fog is thicker, the mist hangs lower, we call this, the mysterious weather phenoms. This morning in the dark we had another one. Our entire farm was covered with frost at 4 o’clock in the morning. You could see every wire on the chicken fence. Every branch on the tumbleweeds, every grain in the wood fence, it was there. The last remaining leaves showed their veins, the thick hair on the calf, everything was covered in sparkling white, glittering in the morning breeze. Driving down the road to the bottom of the holler I thought I spotted an animal. Something was alive in the grass. Stopping my vehicle to look, the light went away. Backing up to see if it was still there, I saw it again and again. Slowly I drove to the end of our pasture and was amazed. Every blade of grass in our pasture was covered in frost. With the moving of my vehicle lights the grass came alive. It danced with sliver sparkling lights. The faster I drove, the more brilliant the light show. It was as if heaven had cleaned house and sprinkled glitter over all the grass. There were millions of lights dancing in the dark to an unheard, but choreographed symphony. A half mile from our house it was gone. This is the mysterious power of God. Man cannot duplicate this power or that light show. In our overwhelming lives in this messed up world, I challenge you today to see God’s power in your life. A child’s laugh, good news from the doctor, a missed stopped light, beautiful music, an unexpected phone call, a job well done, a penny on the street or just some heavenly glitter in the grass. Praise God, he is here right now!
