Global Concepts International School Weekly Report Primary Class Sept. 1-5, 2014 This week we spoke about patterns and spotted many patterns around our environment. We looked at animal fur pictures, flowers, fruits cut in half and shells. Then we spoke about patterns we saw. Pattern activities help kids develop early math skills. Working with patterns from a young age helps children recognize repetition in numbers, sounds, and activities, and can help prepare them for times tables, addition, and skip counting. On Friday we had a lovely time at music lesson with Thomas. It was lovely to hear the children singing. We have a face book page and have uploaded a video of your kids at their lesson. Please search for Global Concepts International school. We will go on a nature walk next week Monday with the upper primary class in the afternoon. We will take the bus and get down at Pruhonsky haj (Mala Sarka bus stop) and go down to the duck pond. You can bring in some hard bread so your child can feed the ducks. Please check if your child has his/her safety vest in the cubby. Trip to PUMPKIN FARM Bykos will take place on Friday, Sept. 19th. The farm is located about about 30 km from Prague towards Beroun (pumpkins.cz). The cost is 300 Kc per child and this includes transportation, a snack at the farm and a small pumpkin to take home. We will be sending out information on our first field trip of the year shortly. We are very excited. PARKING NEWS – The construction holes in front of the school will be covered by next Friday September 12th. The pavement that was ruined because of the big trucks will also be repaired by Friday the 19th. This will be a temporary solution but the city council informed us that further work will have to be done during the year. COMING UP NEXT WEEK Jan will bring in morning snack.
