Global Times Newspaper Online APC To Expel VP Sam Sumana There is strong indication that NAC (National Administrative Council) of the ruling All Peoples Congress party is contemplating action to expel the Vice President, Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana from the party. This information has not been independently confirmed. The Vice President faces allegation of bringing the party into disrepute by hiring thugs to publicly humiliate some senior party members in Kono. The Vice President is also accused of briefing a foreign media outlet against the party’s Leader/Chairman, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. These allegations are being investigated by the highest decision making body in the party, NAC (National Administrative Council), according to senior ruling party sources. The Vice President has allegedly been prevented from travelling out of the country pending the outcome of the investigations. It is not yet known whether the Vice President’s application for medical leave has been approved by State House. Senior party officials are keeping sealed lips over the allegations against the Vice President. Political observers say that if the Vice President is expelled from the party, that decision might prevent him from running for the post of flagbearer of the APC in 2016. It is not yet known what will happen to VP Chief Sam Sumana if he is expelled from the governing party. Will he continue to occupy the post of Vice President? It is rumoured that there is a split in the party’s top hierarchy over the decision to expel the Vice President from the party. This is the second time that the party has failed in its attempt to expel the Vice President, according to reliable sources at the party’s headquarters. A senior member of NAC admitted that the Vice President was being “investigated at Party level”. He clarified that the investigations have nothing to do with the Government.
