Glorious Victory BELIEVERS AND UNBELIEVERS ARE ALWAYS DIVIDED Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. JOH 11:45-46. / The believer is in Christ by the eternal choice of the Father. EPH 1:3-6 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” Have you ever thought of anything that is a greater blessing than to believe that we are accepted in the Beloved, that all of our sins are cast behind His back, that we stand righteous before Him? Our union with Christ is like a marriage union. There is a oneness that is inseparable. Look at 1CO 15:20-22: “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” This revelation of Christ’s glorious victory over the things of death was our Saviour’s reason for tarrying two days after He heard that Lazarus was sick. He wanted to reveal this blessed resurrection and life. That is why He said in JOH 11:3-4: “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” God would be glorified by the revelation of His resurrection power. It was by revealing that resurrection and life that you and I have the basis to believe that He is the Christ. God the Father, and His Son are so glorified in that victory over the devil, death, hell and the grave, which were the result of sin. ROM 6:22-23 says, “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” What a blessedness we see in the things that Jesus did. Christ’s eternal power over Satan and how Satan is limited in what he is able to do is beautifully revealed in JOB 2:6: “And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.” Satan can only go as far as the Lord gives him room to go. The Lord has reserved the devil in chains unto the day of judgment, and unless the Lord lengthens his chain and gives him license, he cannot touch you. Satan can allure you. He can tempt you, but he cannot make you yield to sin. The Lord will never permit that. That yielding unto sin is your fault. That is why we must flee from sin. We must flee from the power of sin and flee unto Christ. When we receive faith’s eyes to see the things that Jesus did, then we will understand why these Jews believed on him. Amen.
