Glory to His name! Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Grace Ministries Facebook Bible Study The Relevance of Psalms Today Psalm 8 (part 1) David depicts in this Psalm the majesty of the name of our God, the humility of man before an Almighty God, and the love of an Almighty God for man. “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens.” David declares in a joyous celebratory voice “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name.” As I began to meditate on this verse, my spirit began to rejoice at these words, my heart began to celebrate along with David this magnificent, marvelous, wonderful, preeminent, perfect, peerless, supreme, exceptionally beautiful, name of the Almighty God. David was not the only one that understood the excellent of God’s name. Nehemiah proclaims, “Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.” What glorious praise of God’s name from David and Nehemiah, but Paul really brings this to its apex in Philippians 2:9, 10. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” The name that David declared as excellent and Nehemiah proclaimed glorious, Paul says is Jesus. Hallelujah!! The psalmist says that our God’s name is excellent “in all the earth.” Do not let your natural eyes deceive you. The ungodly acts of the enemy are televised and internetized to dupe man into believing that he has power. Because our God rules and reigns over both heaven and earth He does not have to advertise. For every evil act perpetrated by Satan, God in His infinite foreknowledge and perfect plan has victoriously defeated each and every evil scheme. What Satan meant for evil God works it out for good and for His glory. This principle applies to individual believers, but it also applies globally. David said, God has “set thy glory above the heavens.” God’s glory is beyond what man can comprehend in his knowledge of His glory in the earth and in heaven. In other words, His glory is boundless immeasurable, limitless, infinite. When we study the scripture we are able through the Holy Spirit to get glimpses of God glory, but our finite minds cannot totally grasp or see Him in all His glory. I praise and thank Him for every glimpse. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!! Join us next week for part 2 of Psalm 8. Have a wonderfully blessed week!
