God Is Cool! I got off work, drove to my favorite food dig, when the Lord spoke to my heart, “I am not in a panic over the church, this nation, the future, or you. People portray me as being anxious over the church, the nation or their lives, but I am in full control. You can trust me.” John 1.1-5 The Life–Light 1 The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, 2 in readiness for God from day one. 3 Everything was created through him; nothing––not one thing! –– came into being without him. 4 What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. 5 The Life–Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldnt put it out. 1. Things can happen when you are serving God. Positive and negative (we tend to focus MORE on the negative). A. 2 Kings 18.5-8 a. the enemies report ch 18.26,27 b. the leaders report ch 18.36-37 c. the kings report ch 18.3 d. then God’s Word/ report ch 19.6-7 6 Isaiah answered them, Tell your master, God s word: Dont be at all concerned about what youve heard from the king of Assyrias bootlicking errand boys––these outrageous blasphemies. 7 Heres what Im going to do: Afflict him with self–doubt. Hes going to hear a rumor and, frightened for his life, retreat to his own country. Once there, Ill see to it that he gets killed. B. Second reports…. a. the enemies report ch 19.8-13 1. the report took a different form (letter), but still about defeat. b. the kings report ch 19.14-15 1. First time He sent a message to Isaiah… 2. Now Hezekiah prays… c. but each time God answers by the prophet. C. Change of focus…from defeat to victory. a. notice that each time – God simply says, “I am in charge – you are not!” b. 2 Kings 19.25 D. Did you know that your problem has a termination date set for it by God! a. 2 Kings 19. 32-37 b. Luke 9.22 c. 2 Cor 4.17 These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. 18 Theres far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we cant see now will last forever. d. Rev 12.12 12 So rejoice, O Heavens, and all who live there, but doom to earth and sea, For the Devils come down on you with both feet; hes had a great fall; Hes wild and raging with anger; he hasnt much time and he knows it. E. So what to do…. a. be patient b. trust in God c. let God work d. be happy
