God Said “Let There Be Light!” A Light That Cannot And Will Not Be Quenched.” ~ Welcome To “Coffee With The Clancys” ~ Where God Is Good And So Is The Coffee! God said, “Let there be light. And light flashed into being! Before time itself was measured, the Voice was speaking. (Genesis 1:3, John 1:1 The Voice) The Voice was and is God. This celestial Word remained ever present with the Creator; His speech shaped the entire cosmos. Immersed in the practice of creating, all things that exist were birthed in Him. His breath filled all things with a living, breathing light— A light that thrives in the depths of darkness, blazes through murky bottoms. It cannot and will not be quenched (John1:1-5 The Voice) God’s Voice was speaking and He created something out of nothing. “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible” (Hebrews 11:3). He made “the winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants,” “angels … who do his bidding, who obey his word” (Psalm 104:4; 103:1). In the beginning, that was before the world’s beginning, the Word was with God and was God. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1, 3). “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth” (Psalms 33:6). And observing God’s creation, the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy (Job 38:7). “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” (Colossians 1:15-17 NIV) Lately, I have been teaching a high school science class and we have been watching some lectures on quantum physics presented at Caltech University. As I have been thinking and meditating on the ideas of Quantum Physics, they have been creating a transformation in me about how I view reality. As I think about this, I am reminded how powerful perspective is. It drives many of our behaviors and can set the course of our lives and destinies. In relation to this I was thinking of the common perspective of the 14th and 15th Centuries. The commonly held belief at that time was that the world was flat. And sitting here at this Starbucks right now it certainly does look flat to my human eye. It does not at all look as if I am sitting on a giant ball floating out in the middle of nowhere! This idea that the world was flat effected what people were willing to do or try. “Of course we can’t sail around the world, WE WILL FALL OFF THE EDGE!” When Columbus set sail in 1492 this was the belief of most people. However, Columbus had become convinced about an alternate view of reality, that the world was round! Therefore he thought that he could sail to India by sailing west and it would be a much shorter and quicker route. Columbus was right about the earth being round, he was just a bit off on the size! After Columbus made his trip back, and survived going “around the world,” it began to transform society’s view of the earth. People began to think, “Maybe, it is round and there is something significant about the nature of reality that we didn’t understand.” I believe quantum physics is going to do the same thing to society’s worldview. It is going to shift our worldview from primarily Newtonian Physical laws to something very different. I think that this shift will have a very positive impact on how Christians see God and believe what is possible. So often science begins to make significant discoveries, and suddenly, we find science saying what God has already told us. The science then is simply a re-discovery of God’s amazing wisdom. The lectures we have been watching are by a professor at Caltech named, Satyan Devodoss. He is a Christian and is part of the Veritas Forum, a Christian organization that engages the truth of science with the truth of Christianity. That ultimately everything is made out of energy or LIGHT! That light is both a particle (matter) and a wave (energy) at the same time. That light can behave in both manners at the same time. And, as Professor Devodoss quotes Richard Feynman’s (another physicist from Caltech) comments on the physical properties of light, he says; “Don’t think of a photon (a particle of light) as going between Point A and Point B in one direct path. Rather, we should think of a particle of light travelling from ALL POSSIBLE PATHS to Point B at the same time!” Stephen Hawking said, “this theory of light should be applied to the entire universe.” In other words all possible paths and probabilities of the universes existence are happening at the same time! While Feynman’s theory in Quantum Mechanics has been proven, Stephen Hawking’s theory of the Multiverse from his book “The Grand Design” has not been. However, that does not mean there isn’t a tremendous amount of research and science behind it. This is the direction that Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics is going. For me this is an incredibly amazing revelation when considering the theological idea of Open Theism which says that the past and the present are certain and fully and perfectly know by God. And while God knows the future perfectly and in infinite detail, God knows the future for what it is, existing with both certainties and possibilities. In other words God knows all possible realities and how to react to them in order to bring about His Restorative Will and Kingdom in the future. However, the way we get to God’s Kingdom could vary based on the choices all of us make for the good, or the bad. God knows what He will do and how He will react to all future possibilities. God may know the probability of us reacting a certain way in the future, but He does not know it as a certain (as if it had already occurred) event, because if He did it would mean that we were destined to take a certain action and therefore we would have no real freedom. However, God does know how He will react to every possible future decision by everyone; and He knows how to do this in such a way as to bring about the Restoration of ALL Things! God already has the victory through Jesus! Listen again what it says in John 1:5 “His breath filled all things with a living, breathing light— A light that thrives in the depths of darkness, blazes through murky bottoms. It cannot and will not be quenched.” (The Voice) God’s light CANNOT be quenched! What a revelation John is giving us about the nature of reality. There may be millions, billions, or even a number we cannot even put into language, expressions of the universe. In fact, the path of the universe, like each light photon that it is made of, is not set in stone, or even set in any particular path. But no matter what path the universe takes, full of our choices for or against the will of God and the Kingdom of God, it WILL FINISH AT THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS! That victory in Jesus has already been won! In Jesus, we are set on a course; we are headed for victory and triumph, NO MATTER WHAT PATH THE UNIVERSE TAKES TO GET THERE! I know this language is stretching your imagination, and that is what I intended it to do. We need to begin to ask ourselves some questions about the nature of reality: • Do all possible worlds exist at the same time? • Is all of reality shifted by our actions and our prayers? • If light is the foundation of all reality, then what does it mean when God says in Genesis 1:3 “Let there be light. And light flashed into being!” • If all matter is really light, aren’t our thoughts and imagination part of that reality? • If prayer is agreeing with God’s promises and His desire to bring Restoration to All the world, in spite of the dark circumstances the world currently finds itself in, can you see how Quantum Mechanics worldview paints a much more powerful view as to the actual possibilities, mechanics and critical nature of prayer? Considering these ideas in light of scripture begins to give us another view of the world. We see a world, created by God that truly has at its core, the foundational idea that “with God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) Jesus simply sees what the Father is doing, hears what the Father is saying, and He reaches out to the world around Him with the Father’s heart to bring healing, wholeness and restoration. In this way, Jesus goes about with the Holy Ghost and with power, healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38) And when we consider that ALL of reality is made up of light and possibilities, how does it frame our thinking about the following scriptures: 1John 1:5 “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” John 9:5 “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” John 1:14-18 “The Voice took on flesh and became human and chose to live alongside us. We have seen Him, enveloped in undeniable splendor (incredible light)—the one true Son of the Father—evidenced in the perfect balance of grace and truth. John the Baptist testified about Him and shouted, ‘This is the one I’ve been telling you is coming. He is much greater than I am because He existed long before me.’ Through this man we all receive gifts of grace beyond our imagination. You see, Moses gave us rules to live by, but Jesus the Anointed offered us gifts of grace and truth. God, unseen until now, is revealed in the Voice, God’s only Son, straight from the Father’s heart.” Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Jesus said that we are now the “Light of The World.” Wow, do we really understand what that means and what a powerful statement that is. “If the Spirit of the One who resurrected Jesus from the dead lives inside of you, then you can be sure that He who raised Him will cast the light of life into your mortal bodies through the life-giving power of the Spirit residing in you.” (Romans 8:11 The Voice) The light of God who created everything, and who Himself is Light (1 John 1:5) dwells inside of you to give life to your mortal body. God’s light is life! And now we have been assigned the task of being the “Light of the World” (Matthew 5:14), which means the light in us, which is the light of life, which created ALL Things, exists within us now to bring life to the whole world! And before you consider this and say it is impossible to accomplish consider the nature of reality according to Quantum Mechanics. God who is the Light is in you, created you, created all things including all possible things. Your prayers, your thoughts, your declarations are all made out of that Light at some level. With this in mind consider this phrase: “Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen. It was by faith that our forebears were approved. Through faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God; everything we now see was fashioned from that which is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:1-6) When you consider this, your possibilities are endless. Your possibilities to do good, to bring healing and transformation, renewal and restoration. You can by faith in God and partnering with God’s good will begin to shift the world and the universe back to God. You can eradicate disease, destroy poverty, end government corruption, you can do all of these things through Him (The Light of Life) who strengthens you! Nothing is impossible for you if you ONLY BELIEVE! You can say to this mountain of (pain, heartache, disease, weariness, poverty and corruption) BE THOU REMOVED AND CAST INTO THE SEA! The Quantum reality is that all of creation (including you and your mortal body) is LIGHT! And the Light that created ALL THINGS lives inside of you; and He (God) has already won the victory of the Light over the darkness! So no matter what the devil, or his kingdom of darkness does, the LIGHT has already won and no matter what path it travels, all the world and the universe are predestined for the Restoration of All Things!
