God created man in his image therefore all of the human species is divine, righteous and perfectly and wonderfully made. All men were created equal, valuable and loved. I hold the belief that in this alone lies the answer to the question of “who will make human rights a reality”. God did. This is also where human rights begin. To take it into the society that we are living in today I feel universal human rights begin in our homes, in what our belief and values systems are and what we are teaching our children. I believe that the statistics are that over 90% of what influences our children comes from the home. That leaves a very small percent of influence from church or Sunday school and our education system whether it is private or public. God created us in his image and he gave us freedom of choice. We have a responsibility to make choices and act accordingly in teaching our children by example about human rights. As Christians united under God across the globe the only one true and accurate path of ensuring human rights and the proper teaching of it to our future generations and non believers is LOVE. “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them on the door posts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NLT). This passage speaks to making biblical principals an integral part of your life and the lives of your children. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors and our enemies. “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.” Matthew 5:43-47 May the Lord help us to put others before ourselves, teach our children in His ways and be a beacon of his light onto others. God has given us the foundation of all Human Rights.
