God did not promise us that we would ever be happy, but HE did promise us His peace and joy. The world teaches us we have to walk around and pretend, smile and entertain when inside we may feel like we are dying. God wants us to be real and honest with who we are and how we feel. We dont have to tell everyone we feel sad, but we dont have to pretend we are happy if we are not. Happiness can be shallow while joy when it comes from God can be sustaining and peaceful. So many people genuinely ache and yet we sometimes shut them out by saying Just smile and be happy or Smile God loves you etc. Thats not helping, thats just making someone feel bad for feeling bad on top of the stuff they are genuinely upset about. God really wants us to bear one anothers burdens. God really wants us to be there for each other rather we are genuinely happy or genuinely sad. We all handle things so different. We should be able to just let each other be who we are and how we really feel. Everyone is real and everyone has good and bad things that happen.
