God gave our family an incredible day today that will change our us forever! First Dad was transferred from the hospital to Westchester Manor where Mom has been for the last 4 years. A few minutes after arriving at the Manor we were able, with the help of some of their fantastic staff, get Dad into Moms room for about 30 minutes from 3:15 - 3:45 pm where Dad was able to say to Mom Im here; I love you; youre the best thing God has given me in my life; and its ok for you to go to heaven when youre ready. During that time with Mom and Dad, Esther and I, my parents great friend Carla Thomas, a nurse, a CNA, and 2 aids we had what I would call a holy ground moment as I was able to hold Mom and Dads hands as they held hands and pray for Mom and Dad about their godly lives, their 75 years and 9 month marriage, their example to us as a family, and asking God to send His angels to take Mom home to heaven. About 7:15 p.m. we were able to bring Dad back to Moms room one more time of about 30 minutes for them to be together. Again Dad expressed his love and gratefulness for Mom in his life and permission for Mom to go to heaven when she was ready. During both times of Mom and Dad being together Mom was not able to talk, but seemed to know that Dad was there and we trust she heard what he and we were saying. We left Mom about 8:10 p.m. and by the time we got home and sat down to eat something we got the call from the Manor that Mom had gone to heaven at 8:50 p.m. I dont think Mom could leave us when we were all with her in her room, but when we left her alone for a few minutes God said, Its time to come home, Verona. and she left. Charles and I went back to check on Dad and sit with Mom for a few minutes before the funeral home was called to come for her body. We rememised together about what a great mother we had and how we were happy that she was not stuck in the that bed any more and that she was rejoicing with so many of her friends who have gone on before. We told her we knew she was preparing a beautiful table of china, etc. like she loved to do for company so many times and preparing a fantastic meal for us when we arrive there. We thanked her for leading the way to heaven for our family and told her wed all be there around Gods great white throne some day. Tonight we have a lot more reason to look forward to our heavenly reward - being reunited with the best mother in the world! Thank you for praying for Mom and please continue to pray for Dad as he has a long way to go back to health. Wed appreciate your continued prayers for our family as we plan to say goodbye to Mom in a service. We will probably have a service for Mom the early part of next week. We will let you all know when and where the service will be when we finalize the plans with the funeral home tomorrow.
