God gets no pleasure or glory when we carry the weight of shame from our past. In Him, we are a glorious testimony of His wondrous works. Rather than focus on who we were, what we did or how we came to be in the state that we were in, we can take hold of His saving grace and declare of our lives, Look what the Lord has done! He has made us beautiful in exchange for our ashes. (Isaiah 61:3 - To all who mourn, He will give them beauty instead of ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of a heavy burdened and failing spirit, that they may be called oaks of righteousness, strong and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness and right standing with their God, that He might be glorified.)
