God has more power available for us than we can possibly imagine. He never intended His Church to go naked into the battle. That’s why Jesus said, “Wait until you are clothed with power from on high.†With this heavenly power we can overcome the forces of evil. We can deliver a generation of those bound in sin and darkness. But we must be willing to receive that power on God’s terms. The corrupting influences of power are proverbial. The craven pursuit of it has led to the downfall of many leaders. Love of pre-eminence, hunger for influence, addiction to being in control—all these things are linked to worldly concepts of power. But the power of God can only flow freely through those who know they are utterly naked and helpless before they have it and totally humbled when they do.
