God is not promising us an easy life. He promised us a God presence life. Jesus offers this invitation to yoke with Him, for His burden is light and we can learn from Him because He is gentle of heart. Jesus yoked the worlds sin on his body and was tortured, abandoned and murdered. His definition of a easy yoke, a light burden and gentle of heart is light years away from what my definition would be. As I meditate on this though the Holy Spirit reminds me Jesus did what we could not do. Trying to save yourself is a yoke you were not meant to bear, the burden of your own sins is to heavy for your soul to carry. He bore all of it because His heart is beautiful and He loves us. He loves you. All our sins left for us to carry would kill us but instead God allowed himself to be killed for us and took what we could not bear on his body and died. If that was how it all ended we would literally have no hope, but He just didnt die for us, He rose for us, and because He lives our sin, death, separation, hell do not define us but Gods love defines who we are and whose we are. Today was one of those days emotionally that screamed your circumstances and feelings control you joy. Yet the Holy Spirit reminded me Jesus is my joy and He will not ever leave me or forsake me. God does not promise us an easy life but He does promise us His presence and that is more than enough. Amen.
