God morning. The tale of two cities. Was actually shocked that the grand jury didnt issue an indictment in the Eric Garner NY case. The role of the Grand Jury is not too convict, but determine probable cause. A sensible view of the tape clearly indicates that the NY cops were using excessive force. Without a doubt from the tape, it was not their intent to kill Gardner. The issue is not whether they were trying to kill him but whether they used excessive force. One must always consider that our Rule of Law gives the benefit of the doubt to the defendant, especially if the accused is law enforcement. Policemen in the line of duty make split seconds decisions and they are not always correct even with the best of training. The proper response to this decision are the exemplary peaceful protesting in NY with no violence or looters. New yorkers are sending several message to the political establishment and the world. Their is never a reason for violence and looting when we vehemently disagree with verdicts by the Grand or any Jury. They also remind us that policeman must exercise more control in their duties and suspects dont have to die in the process.
