Goddag! Hello from Sweden everyone! Its Scout here...and boy do I have a Dogs WITHOUT Borders rescue story! I landed at the cold, scary, high kill North Central Shelter in Los Angeles last year. Just another cream colored Chihuahua mix with a crooked smile and little hope. Chihuahuas are the second most often euthanized dogs you know and...I wasnt even a full Chihuahua. As a staff favorite, I got posted on the shelters facebook page and noticed by a Dogs Without Borders long time volunteer (who happens to be Swedish and also happens to help run the DWB facebook page:) and she pretty much mercilessly begged for my rescue. So...on my final day...hope fading...in walked a rescuer! I was brought to an NKLA super adoption event where the volunteer responsible for my rescue chatted up a fellow Swedish gal who agreed to foster me. I was placed in a foster home and...wow...what a change from the harsh shelter where no one looked my way. I was dressed up in cute outfits, had a foster sister, and got hugged and snuggled every day. My foster mom was a really lovely (and pretty:) Swedish girl who got her Swedish room mates Swedish family completely hooked on me. They came to visit her from Sweden and boy they LOVED them some Scout! So...after a thorough background check by DWB and all the right visas in place...they made a second trip back to the US JUST to adopt me and bring me back to Sweden where I now happily live today. And...I know I know...its really cold in Sweden...but I have loads of fashion forward sweaters (just check me out lounging in the last picture) and I am pretty much living on a warm lap every day. So...from the cold, dark shelter of LA to frolicking in a beautiful home in Sweden...I might be the luckiest dang dog alive! Thank you Dogs Without Borders!!
