Godown Rushes Past Everyone to Post his 8th Win at New Egypt New Egypt, NJ (September 21, 2013) – Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ won his eighth feature of the season on Saturday evening as he captured the 30-lap 358 Modified feature on Football Night. Godown charged thru the pack to the lead in just 11 laps, beating current point leader Billy Pauch to the front and went on to win by 4 car lengths over the five time champ. Neal Williams grabbed the lead from his front row starting spot and controlled the opening laps of the event. Williams enjoyed a sizeable advantage until yellow flags began slowing the pace 7 laps into the event. By lap 10, Godown and Pauch were up to 2nd and fourth respectively and when the green flag waved on the restart, this duo raced by Williams and began to pull away. Pauch dogged Godown the rest of the event, however never could muster enough to pull alongside the #747. Godown slowly opened up a little breathing room over the last five laps, but not enough to ever feel comfortable. At the finish it was Godown beating Pauch by just 3 car lengths. The victory for Godown was career win 28 for him at NES. Pauch settled for second and held on to the point lead by just 7 points going into the final night of the season next week with Twin 20 lap Modified features on the schedule. Tad Cox had another strong night finishing third, which is his tenth consecutive top ten finish. Neal Williams finished fourth as he battled with Cox right to the final turn & Willie Osmun rounded out the top five. Skip Syester was the winner of the 12 lap double point FASTRAK Late Model event. By virtue of his 2nd win of the year, Syester captured his first ever NES championship by a mere one point over race runner-up Sean Frey. DJ Macri finished the race third, ahead of Kelly Putz and Al Burdge. The ARDC Midgets made their third and final stop at New Egypt in 2013 Saturday night and for the third time, Steve Buckwalter of Royersford, PA took the victory. Buckwalter, who became a dad for the second time earlier in the week and then captured the 410 Sprint Feature at Williams Grove Speedway Friday, capped off the week sweeping the ARDC season at NES by posting his 7th career win at the track. Series point leader Trevor Kobylarz chased Buckwalter the entire event but to no avail, settling for second. Brendan Bright finished third, followed by Bruce Buckwalter Jr. and Nick Wean. The FASTRAK Crate Sportsman 20 lap feature event was won for the second time this season by Chuck Steuer of Bohemia, NY. Steuer led the entire event but had to hold off numerous challenges from Matt McAnally, including a last lap charge that saw the two side by side for the final half of a lap. McAnally tried a cross over move on the final turn but fell less than a car length short at the finish. Andrew Bohn came home in third, chased by Mike Butler and Mike Carman. Next Saturday, September 28th, New Egypt Speedway will present Championship Night sponsored by National Parts Supply. The evening will feature Twin 20 lap feature events for the 358 Modifieds, with the 2013 358 Modified championship on the line. Going into this final night 5-time champion Billy Pauch holds a slim 7 point advantage over defending champ Ryan Godown. Double point feature events for the Sportsman and Street Stocks are also on tap. The 2013 division champion will be crowned at the conclusion of each of these events as well. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the first race starting at 6:00 pm.
