Goehring on USDA trade mission to Turkey BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring is a member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness Trade Mission to Turkey, June 10-14, in Istanbul and Ankara. “Turkey is the 10th largest market for U.S. agricultural exports,” Goering said. “Their agricultural imports include soy meal, feed ingredients, dry beans and pulses, and there is a growing demand for U.S. livestock and genetics to develop Turkey’s domestic livestock industry. North Dakota can supply all of these.” Goehring also said that Turkey boasts one of the world’s fast growing economies with a young population and an increasing demand for foreign products, including consumer food products. The mission agenda includes meetings between the governments of Turkey and the U.S., presentations by public and private sector experts; one-on-one business meetings and local site visits. U.S. Acting Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse invited Goehring to participate in the mission.
