Going to a costume party dressed as a Mountie: The perfect way to wear Ariats and hunting pinks (aka tall leather riding boots and the bright red coat) to a social function with minimal judgment. Notice to future practitioners: EVERYONE will smile at you, if not full-on wave. Fellow metro riders, drunken U-street bicyclists, people sitting in a parked car that you thought was empty until they started excitedly shouting at you. Because suddenly you are Canadian, Americas happily non-threatening hat. And EVERYBODY loves Canadians. I was thoroughly unprepared to don this mantle of ambassadorial responsibility.
