Golf Report - Played my first round in Cancun at the Puerto Cancun Golf Club. Its still relatively new, no clubhouse but a beautiful links course. Water along every hole and not much room off the fairways along the water. A lot of ocean breeze comes into play and you have to adjust club selection accordingly. After an eight month hiatus I was able to make three scrambling pars on 9, 10 and 11. Nine was a challenge, straight into the ocean breeze, a fade became a slice and a draw became a hook. Short game was spotty, sand bunker play was close to dismal, fairway woods surprisingly was average to good, irons were okay and hybrids helped more than not. Holes 13 and 14 were ocean view holes and were par 3s, again you had to deal with the offshore breezes. A lot of construction going on around the course but doesnt really come into play. Overall a day scrambling for pars and bogeys. I loved it. Talked with pro afterwards, plays on the Mexican tour and has a sports psychologist that told him to always stay in the present. A true Buddhist sport.
