Gonzalo Higuaín is an Argentinian striker who plays for Real Madrid but has recently been linked with moves to Juventus or Arsenal. Juventus are in pole position to sign the 25-year-old Argentine international and have offered somewhere close to £18.7m for him – The Telegraph has covered much of the interest. Whether Wenger will see that amount of money as a worthy investment is debatable having his record signing being £15m for Andrey Arshavin back in January 2009. Higuain played for River Plate as a youngster before his big move to Real Madrid in December 2006. The 2009–10 season saw Higuaín become Real’s top goalscorer with 27 league goals, 29 in total in 40 games for the club. 3 goals in every 4 games is a prolific record which is something Arsenal could do with. Giroud, Podolski, Walcott and Cazorla all chipping in with 10-15 goals each but if Arsenal are to challenge then they need to have a prolific goalscorer otherwise it will be another season without a trophy. Madrid president Florentino Perez said: I will speak to him Higuain but players who want to leave this club know what they have to do – their buyout clause must be paid. It’s not easy to leav2e if the club does not feel the same way.” Higuain told MSN: I feel like my time here has ended. It’s not easy but I think that I want to go to another club, have new challenges.” Higuain with a goal tally of 103 goals in 187 games for Real Madrid, the rumoured £15m-£20m asking price is definitely worth the investment. Wenger needs to push the boat out slightly considering he has a supposed budget of £70m to spend. Sebastian Squillaci, Andrey Arshavin and Denilson, Chamakh, Nicklas Bendtner, Park Chu Young, Andre Santos and Johan Djourou hopefully gone – it would free up some valuable space on the wage bill. Higuain would be the best option to fill the striking role for Arsenal, as well as expensive. A good goalscoring record for one of the best teams in the world will certainly be something Wenger will be looking fo
