Todays Fresh Manna (9.10.14) Encounters with Jesus - 4 (A New Series from the Gospel of Luke) ************************ Luk 4:35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. (Read Luke 4:33-36) Authority & Power of Jesus Words **************************************** This incident ushers in the battle with the invisible world of evil spirits. The ministry of the Lord begins in a synagogue when He read the Scriptures and now His miraculous power was displayed in casting out an evil spirit in a synagogue. He began to prove that His Words not just prophecy fulfilled but also have authority and power over the spirit-world and all diseases and problems of man. The people were amazed that He could command the evil spirits and they obey His Word. It is surprising to see a man with an unclean evil spirit in a synagogue. How many days or years he is tormented by it is not known. Yet his presence in the synagogue that day was going ot change his life forever as it turned out ot be auspicious day when the Lord Jesus was there. Today, when people with all sorts of problems come to the church meetings, they should be able to hear Gods Word proclaimed with power and authority and they should be able to meet the Lord to change their lives once for all. But, alas, the church programs have become more like worldly entertaining clubs catering to the carnal desires and lusts of sinful people rather than holy places manifesting Gods presence and power. The way the Lord cast out this evil spirit teaches us how to deal with the ministry to the spirit-possessed. He did not allow the evil spirit to talk more but commanded to keep quiet. He did not lay hands not shake his head or push him down. The Lord simply commanded the unclean spirit to leave him. Elsewhere, later, He commanded the evil spirits to come out of a man and enter no more. It is enough to make known the authority and power of the Lords Name. The devils will tremble at His Name (James 2:19). Rom_14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 1Co_2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. May we experience this power of His Kingdom and practice it over the world of the darkness and bring glory to Him as we set people free and proclaim His Kingdom. Amen.
