Good Evening Everyone, New Chairman Announced We would like to officially notify our Members of the announcement that Mr Neil Maxwell has been endorsed by our Board of Directors to take over the role of Chairman after the resignation of Bob Adby at Wednesdays Board meeting. As you all know, Neil was one of the most passionate Tigers to ever play for our Club and has a twenty five year association as a player and administrator. Professionally, Neil has been involved with Sports Management & Marketing throughout his working life. Please join with me in wishing Neil all the best in his new role. We would like to acknowledge the role our former Chairman, Mr Bob Adby, has played since he took on the role five years ago. Bob had no direct connection with the Sydney Cricket Club when he became Chairman and he did so at the request of the Board given the unexpected transfer of Greg Healy to Singapore. The Club was going through a real transition at the time and Bob has played a key role both solidifying our standing and strengthening the relationship with the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust. He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to assist the General Manager and manage issues which many would never hear about. Under Bob’s leadership, the Club has gone a long way toward being regarded as one of the premier cricket clubs in the world. On the field we have risen from, what was a disappointing, 17th position in the Club Championship, to a respectable 4th as of 2013. We have played in numerous finals and also won the T20 flag. Our Womens division has experienced a resurgence thanks to Bobs support. The SCG XI has grown in both popularity and importance and now will challenge MCC every two years in what has become a key part of their cricket calendar. Membership is growing as more former NSW and Australian players start to take a more active role. A lot has been achieved in the time Bob has been at the helm. We can sometimes take these for granted so it is important that we take stock for a moment at least, to recognise them; We employ a full-time General Manager - a luxury only a couple of other Clubs can afford We have full use of SCG Trust offices and equipment, accounting, legal and website management We secured $11m from State and Federal Government to enhance Drummoyne Oval and the surrounding area - ensuring we have what many would regard as the best cricket ground in NSW if not Australia Developed a First Class Training Facility and rehab gymnasium - and how good are they? We have launched the SCGXI; launched the lights at Drummoyne Oval and created the opportunity for SCC players to play an annual T20 match against the Sydney Sixers Relayed the Drummoyne Oval pitch square Relayed the Ryde Oval pitch square Developed a scholarship program to India Established the Junior Tigers Academy Formed the strongest links in the Clubs history with Canada Bay, Leichhardt & Ryde Councils We have arranged for four of our players to trial interstate with three ultimately representing at first-class level and in one match Initiated both practice sessions and matches on the SCG. Bob has been a part of all of the above and for this we should be extremely grateful. We cannot reference the above without also thanking our President, Rodney Cavalier and fellow Director, Jamie Barkley. The Trust has been a wonderful supporter of the Sydney Cricket Club and without the commitment of these two individuals; in particular, we would not be in the position we are in. Thank you to both of them and the Trustees of the SCG. We wish you all the best for the coming season and ask you support Neil in driving our Club to further success. Kind regards Sent on behalf of Sydney Cricket Club Board of Directors
