Good Evening, For a while now, the idea of fest events have both - TopicsExpress

Good Evening, For a while now, the idea of fest events have both had a great draw on me, and also left me feeling a little cold (having been to several). So, I have been considering the problem’s that put my off fest events and putting my brain to solving the flaws, most importantly to my mind: 3rd spearman from the left syndrome: I.e. that there are so many people at the event, that many are simply pushed aside. Anyway, I have considered solutions and would like to have a go at giving my ideas (and of course having them pulled apart, but that is part of the process). Oddly, I have taken my inspirations from two places: 1 – Fools & Heroes 2 – Vampire live (for example) (just stay with me). Firstly: The idea is to have events scattered around the country, run by local groups with plot both local and overarching so that when the system called a fest event then everyone would have the feeling that they are part of the plot. It ALSO gives a large bucket of experienced refs to help run things scattered across the event. (Yes, I know that Fools & Heroes do this, again, stay with me). Secondly: Using a social system that the players vote on to get there own faction leaders and groups, with property etc. that has effects. (Mostly to do with income). Thirdly: StoryCards, they aren’t a new idea, but hey: A card you can take if you wish at character creation that prompts a small bit of plot, because of the aforementioned large bucket of refs. To add to this; if players want to they can weave there plot with others making the plot largely self motivated or at the very least very personal. Anyway, that’s a thought, I am considering slowly but surely building ForestArgent in this direction, but I know it will take time, I just wondered if anyone could spot some immediate glaring problems (I have seen a few, but this is a process rather than an ending). Thanks folks.
