Good Evening Guys, Please let me introduce our most recent beneficiary Alfie O’driscoll and his Mother Rachel Henderson Little Alfie from Hockley,Tamworth is only 14 months old and from birth he was diagnosed with Grade 2 Subglottic Stenosis with multiple subglottic cysts. This condition means that Alfie’s lungs are 70% obstructed and restricts his breathing giving recurring respiratory distress and multiple hospital admissions. Whilst Alfie is under the care of the Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital his mother Rachel is by his side 24/7 and has dealt with some heart breaking, difficult times. Rachel was advised 6 months ago Alfie was not going to make it and after undergoing a major surgery last month Alfie has shown he is a little fighter! Although he still has a way to go and further surgery, Alfie is showing he can battle through and keep smiling. As you can see Alfie is a little smiler, he always smiles and laughs. Rachel said even after his surgery he woke up smiling. It was a pleasure to meet the little man. When I asked Rachel how Simons Heroes could help she was slightly overwhelmed and very grateful of the support. We discussed that due to Alfie being in hospital all throughout his first 12 months they haven’t had the time to decorate his room. Alfie is a lover of Thomas the tank engine so after a discussion with the trustees we have decided to decorate Alfie’s room with a Thomas The Tank EngineTheme. Over the next two weeks we will be painting, laying new Carpet and purchasing Alfie is very first Thomas The Tank toddler bed. We cannot express how happy we are to do this for Alfie and his parents as we know how much this will mean to them. We do this becasue we can, we do this because we care, we do this because we have great people around us. Our members show great support throughout the year raising money so all this is possible.
