Good Evening my friends! Who wants to talk about the weather? - TopicsExpress

Good Evening my friends! Who wants to talk about the weather? Forgive my long winded explanations... but there is a lot of stuff to talk about over the next week or so, I will try to be as brief as possible. Friday: Look for a mix of sun and clouds.. an overall bright look to the day, highs will be around 40.. perhaps a degree or two above that number.. jeez, imagine that! A normal kinda day. A cold front approaches from the west and will essentially act as a reinforcement for cold air which will be felt on Saturday. Stars and clouds, lows in the mid teens (mainland) and lower 20s (Shore) Saturday: We start out mostly sunny, its bright and calm. COLD too.. highs take a big step back, we top out in the lower 30s. We remain fair going into early evening but the clouds move back in ahead of a warm front that will bring some wet weather along with it for Sunday. Overnight temperatures Saturday into Sunday will actually RISE as the front pushes through, wouldnt be surprised if Saturdays official high temperature comes in at midnight...Winds shifting out of the south/southwest throw that warmer air our way. Weve seen a decent amount of similar events in the past few months. Sunday: Mostly Cloudy... dull... periods of rain. High temperatures will be above average.. upper 40s greatly likely, but we could flirt with the 50 degree mark! Every computer model run Ive looked at suggests the heaviest rain for Hammonton points South and East.. so mainly a South Jersey event.. we could pick up a decent amount 3/4 to an inch or more... Now.. here is the unknown variable in all of this. How fast does cold air work into the back end of the departing storm? BOTH the GFS and EURO are suggesting a very brief transition to a wintry mix and then snow later Sunday night into very early Monday morning. My thoughts? The cold air would have to get its act together and REALLY move in fast.. we are talking day time highs near 50? Wed need to see nearly a 20 degree plunge in just a few short hours... possible? Yes. Likely? Ehhhhh... the jury is out on that one. In my opinion, the GFS has a cold air bias (meaning it inevitably likes to bring colder air into these systems. This is something that will be looked at very closely. Early week: Sunshine returns to kick off the new week.. we fluctuate temperature wise between the upper 30s and lower 40s. No huge swings but something worth mentioning. Earlier today I was more excited for the potential of a midweek Wednesday / Thursday clipper that could bring some light snow... some model runs backed off of that idea but the most recent ones do show the small possibility. Late Week: Circle your calendars... something DEFINITELY worth looking at. I mentioned last night there could be a coastal storm in the cards. Both the GFS and EURO (long range models) indicate the presence of such a storm but vary on the track and intensity. This one has the potential to blow up into something bigger than anything weve seen so far this season. Cold air looks to be in place.. EURO wants to curve the storm into New England.. if that was the case, snow would be seen on the back end for us... The issue? There is no blocking modeled.. so anything seen would be quick hitting. Look for a progressive low. So a lot going on in the world of weather, looks like Ill have my plate full of updates this week :)
