Good Monday all! Youve needed a scorecard to keep up with the meteorological events this weekend and into this morning! And we have a late season snow on the way later today. Check out the phenomenal hail shots from portions of the metro area so many of you were so good to share with us. Saturdays summerlike 80-deg high segued into a Sunday which produced a 69-deg temp just after 10:50am. Within 2 hours, temps had tanked with a wind-shift to the NE. Readings plummeted 17 degrees in under 2 hours to 51 at 1:51 Sunday afternoon. Lakeshore areas were shrouded in dense fog and saw temps crash to the 40s. But, the wild temp ride wasnt over. Temps were to resurge late Sunday evening with a wind-shift to the south which took OHares temp from 45 at 9:51pm to 65 at 11:51pm. Readings hovered in the 60s with a 62 recorded at 2:51am this morning but had crashed to 39 by 7:51am. The pictures posted here include Bob Kinnisons shot of huge hailstones covering ground Saturday at Aideen Golf Club in Rockford, Mary DeJongs shot of a robin in the midst of hail-covered surroundings at Lake in the Hills, two huge hailstones in Jen Ifers hand, Brian Kellys shot of a collection of golfball-sized hailstones in the NW suburbs, hailstones literally covering Ralph Ebersoles back porch Saturday and hail covering the road near Belvidere Saturday as photographed by John Beasley who reports hailstone sizes ranged from marble to baseball-sized. The hail pictured in Debra Fulschers photo was nearly tennis-ball size!
