Good Morning. A bit of nerdy radio history today. Today is the 76th anniversary of one of the greatest radio broadcasts of all time on the evening of October 30th 1938. The program was Orson Welles classic radio adaption of H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds. The radio play featuring mock news reports about invading aliens from Mars was so realistic many believed the end was nigh and panic gripped the public. The next morning, Halloween 1938, Director Orson Welles told reporters he had no idea his Mercury Theatre On The Air production of the classic would be perceived as real by so many people; but Welles later recanted saying, We werent as innocent as we meant to be. Scared the socks off me as a child! Click on the link for a musical taste from the radio play- Sian Wilsons Prom 17 Possible morning drizzle.
