Good Morning All,, Looks like it will be another good day along the river. Ive had several customers headed to Fort Gibson Lake, to do some catfishing. As long as the jet skiers and other boaters stay out of the way. It should be a good day for catfishing. We had a rush for goldfish Friday. Many anglers like to use goldfish for their trotlines of fishing from the bank. Some of the goldfish are a brownish color. For some catfish they eat them like candy. Since shad has become a problem, the larger goldfish has replaced shad, until the shad grow-up. It was another great day for anglers catching sandbass and stripers at Fort Gibson Dam. Although striper fishing was slow, anglers are finding it fun catching sandbass. Larry, a customer that recently returned from California back to Oklahoma, has been stopping in the store re-suppling his tackle box. Not to mention, giving me a fishing report from the Dam. Larry watched a few anglers catching several stripers in the 10+ pound range. One angler returned his stripers back into the water, only to be caught again. Glad to know some anglers practice Catch and Release. I practice it. Sometimes I release the fish too early, when I have no intentions of doing it. Thats Fishing. One never knows what to expect, here at the store. Im glad two days are never the same. I think Id get bored if it were. Mark McGuire is a local guide that guides Fort Gibson, Tenkiller, Eufaula, and other places. Mark suprised me yesterday by stopping by. Mark mentioned how hard it was finding crappie on Fort Gibson. They caught some crappie but, had to work for them. He also said this year has been so weird for crappie fishing. Its the same comment Ive heard from other crappie anglers.
