Good Morning America! The Trial! I know this may seem - TopicsExpress

Good Morning America! The Trial! I know this may seem far-fetched, but in light of the events that have been taken place worldwide, I think this would be a great discussion. You have just been arrested. You have been placed in jail. Your charge is for being a Christian. You are not allowed bond. If convicted, you might get Life in Prison or even death. Would there be enough evidence to convict you? What if you could not even make a plea? This case will go to a trial of your peers. Imagine a whole list of witnesses ready to take the stand? Who would you call? Who would you accusers call as their witnesses? Would they call a spouse, children, parents, colleagues, pastors, people who know us best? What kind of evidence would they give? Would we be considered guilty and convicted of being Christians? Might we be fully exonerated and set free, because there was not enough evidence? Might the jury give a verdict of reasonable doubt? Wouldn’t it be very sad if no-one could find any evidence of our faith at all? You might ask who would even bring this case up against you. Who are your accusers? If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: No servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: They hated me without reason. John 15:18-25 Is it possible that you could be put on trial? Will you be persecuted? Persecution is defined as ‘harassment or injury against another, for reasons of religion or race’. Who knows that for us persecution isnt just around the next corner, for us in this country? Jesus warned his disciples quite clearly, “When these things happen not “if they ever do”, but we were told to expect trials and tribulations as Christians, yet so many of us respond with surprise and shock when it does happen. I often wonder how our faith would stand up under the same trials that many others have to face around the world, today. So today, how would you fair in a trial? Would they find you Guilty as Charged? Ask yourself America, Are you Guilty as Charged? Dear Lord, I pray today that the world sees me as Guilty, a Christian, a Follower, and a Believer! Dear Lord, give me the strength to fight the evil that is out there, that is trying to destroy me. Thank You Lord for sending you Son, Jesus to save me! In Your Holy Name I pray. Amen
