Good Morning. At the beginning of the ministry of Jesus, He asked - TopicsExpress

Good Morning. At the beginning of the ministry of Jesus, He asked His disciples to come and follow Him. When you read carefully the various accounts of Jesus request to His disciples you will see that no one hesitated. In Matt. 4:19 it is recorded “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” This morning the Lord is calling us to do the same thing. Drop our own personal outlook on the future and follow Him. The Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary define the word “follow” as “To go after or behind; to walk, ride or move behind, but in the same direction.” The Strong’s Concordance defines the Greek word for “follow” as “come hither, come here, come”. From these two definitions it’s clear that we cannot follow Jesus and remain where we are. To follow Jesus means to move from where we are to where He is. It involves putting aside our own view of life and the future and adhering to the guidance and directions provided by the Lord. This morning the Lord is reminding us that unless we decide to follow Him we will never become fishers of men. And most importantly, we will never be saved in His eternal kingdom. Matthew Henry in his commentary on this verse said, “What they must do in order to this; Follow me. They must separate themselves to a diligent attendance on him, and set themselves to a humble imitation of him; must follow him as their Leader. Note, (1.) Those whom Christ employs in any service for him, must first be fitted and qualified for it. (2.) Those who would preach Christ, must first learn Christ, and learn of him. How can we expect to bring others to the knowledge of Christ, if we do not know him well ourselves? (3.) Those who would get an acquaintance with Christ, must be diligent and constant in their attendance on him. There is no learning comparable to that which is got by following Christ.” I will follow Thee - https://youtube/watch?v=bP1M21gsx88 Have a blessed and Holy Spirit-filled day.
