Good Morning Everyone! As we are approaching Christmas this week the word that keeps coming to me is Forgiveness...סָלַח ....calach (sä·lakh) defined from the Hebrew word.... to forgive....pardon (Qal) to forgive, pardon.. (Niphal) to be forgiven. Your probably asking what does Christmas have to do with forgiveness?... I would respond..Everything... Jesus was born to die for our sins... Which is unmerited favor... and compassion for our wrongs so we are pardoned ..,Which translates into mercy and grace which equals forgiveness. When someone hurts us mentally...physically... emotionally...when someone hurts us period!.... It can be hard to forgive or when someone does something to someone we love the grudge can really be hard to let go of .... Have you ever said this..I will forgive but I wont forget! ... The problem with that statement is this... As long as you hold onto the memory of the pain you can never truly forgive .. why?... Because the pain still resides and with true forgiveness God replaces the pain with love... I know this personally. Forgiveness is what stands between a lot of people and God...why?... If we do not forgive than God cannot forgive us... Read.. Matthew 6:14-15 AMP 14 For if you forgive people their trespasses [their [a]reckless and willful sins, [b]leaving them, letting them go, and [c]giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [d]reckless and willful sins, [e]leaving them, letting them go, and [f]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. Forgiving someone is for you not the person who committed the wrong ... That person may or may not care they hurt you or someone you love. The pain of the hurt is eating you up inside... robbing you of peace... taking your joy...turning your heart into stone...callousing your spirit..destroying your compassion....not forgiving keeps you from God... Revenge is Gods let Him take care of it.... Read... Romans 12:19-20 AMP 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God’s] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord. 20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head. Pray blessings for the one who has caused you pain and ask God to give you the love that He has for them so that you can love like He loves and forgive as He forgives. Again, What does Christmas have to do with forgiveness?.... Jesus was born to die for our sins and we are told to forgive as Christ has forgiven us... Read.. Ephesians 4:31-32 AMP 31 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). 32 And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you. Colossians 3:13 AMP Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. We have to let all the anger..all the bitterness..all the quarreling and fighting cease and let it be replaced with..passion... understanding..love...and forgiveness..why?... Because Jesus forgave us!...He freely forgave us meaning their were no strings attached... There are no conditions to His forgiveness....You may say you dont understand what this person did...it was horrible!..it was horrific!...it was unforgivable!!... According to the word of God we are to forgive not some things but ALL things...I say that because we are told to forgive like Christ and if we dont forgive like Him..than we will not be forgiven...Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is oneself ... We have to also learn that Jesus has forgiven us so we must forgive ourselves as well.... This Christmas give yourself the greatest gift of all and that us forgiveness... Forgiveness for others and yourself! I read this quote and wanted to share it with you this morning.... “forgiveness ought to be like a canceled note, torn in two and burned up, so that it can never be shown against the man. “ ~ Henry Ward Beecher It should be... Imagine if we wrote down each person we had something against and prayed over it... Ask Gods help in forgiving them...and then burned it and walked away and with the burning we had no memory of the ought... Thats how it should be! Have A Blessed Day!
