Good Morning Everyone: We continue to say thank God its Friday as a way to express getting through another week. Well, today I say thank God its Monday because it means we have another day on this wonderful, though in need of some repairs, planet. Yes, thank God its Monday because it sure as heck is the first day of the rest of our lives. Some of us remain thankful for each and every day. Others seem to take our time alive for granted. Than there are those who just roll with the flow and just go through life unnoticed often out of sight and forgotten. Its almost like some people go in to their own version of the witness protection program by disappearing and than we see them after 20 years and feel we are seeing a ghost, as I did when seeing a guy we all thought had died while attending a Mary J concert a few years back. So again Thank God Its Monday, a day I have a few things to share that could or could not be controversial. Here are my scatterings for today. And by scatterings I mean thoughts that are scattered and might not make sense and definitely will not have a a connection in some cases. Hey, its Monday (smile)! I really do enjoy gospel music and concerts. I had the opportunity and privilege of attending a great event on Sunday in Harlem sponsored by Promoter Larry Love with assistance from Franz Robinson AKA Cheddar Entertainment and Chris Johnsonl that was so on point musically that everyone left very lifted up. I was so moved that I almost sang a song on stage myself before coming to my senses and realizing I was not at Gospel Karaoke because the performers could Sang! Yes I said Sang and not sing! They could sang and folks were on their feet clapping and applauding like they were at an actual revival. It was so nice watching the older seniors out for a day enjoying great music. So nice watching them move side to side with younger seniors and even younger mid age folks who most likely were used to Jay Z and Kanye more than the music they were experiencing. But they learned quickly this music is no joke and if you listen hard enough you could hear where our very popular R&B sound came from. It took a visionary such as Larry to move over from R&B parties for a day to host and present such a wonderful event! As I watched and as I left I wondered if my Mom was in the building from heaven enjoying the music because I sure wish she was alive for me to bring to such a great event. Waiting patiently for Larrys next production!!! Just Some Thoughts! Sitting in shoe department watching style of some people trying shoes on in Lord and Taylor. You could almost predict what shoes would be picked by who based on appearance lol. For real!!! I love speaking with childhood basketball buddy Gary Tank Barnes, who I am working with, along with life long friend and youth advocate Russel Shuler, on the Real Harlem Basketball Players Reunion, scheduled for July 25, 26, and 27, 2014. Everyone is returning to Harlem to celebrate our childhood growing up playing basketball! Well, Tank, as we call him, is a double threat like so many others. He is education smart and street smart and some of his sayings are worthy of publishing! Let me give you a few examples: He continues to say people such as him and I are able to overcome adversity based on tough Harlem upbringing where we learned to do without in order to have something in the future! We can survive and re-invent ourselves because that was a everyday occurrence for many we watched growing up. Tank also reminded me that after working in the Federal Justice system for many years he understood 80 Percent of crimes in our communities across America are crimes of passion between people who know each other. In other words we know each other and those are the people we hurt and harm in 80 percent of the cases! He also has this saying that a Person who urinates on his self will urinate on you. So if he or she does not care about who they are why would they care about you? If a person steals from their parents they will steal from you. Why do we continue to entertain people who post scripture on FB daily but also post big butt naked women or make fun of others for shortcomings they have no control over later the same day? Why do people want to know what you would do If you catch your man or women doing something? Are they asking for advice for themselves? Amazing how some women have $1500 dollar pocketbooks with $3.00 inside heading to the club. Ditto men with only 1 suit that is a $1900 Armani suit with $3 in his pocket. Maybe the man needs to go to one of those stores where they can get 2 suits, two shirts, two ties, two pair of underwear, 2 pair of shoes, two caps, an umbrella, a coat, and 50 percent off their next bill at Red Lobster for only $99.00 lololol. Of course i am exaggerating but you get the idea. 2 sets of kids outside two exits at Walmart in a very diverse area where I reside. At one exit 4 nice white kids and at the other exit 4 nice black kids. Looking at huge collection jars at each exit it seemed white kids doubled what black kids had. Maybe they were more aggressive or maybe Ummmmm! There are some OUTSTANDING Foster Parents I know who treat kids assigned to them as if they went through labor to have them. I mean they do everything for them and provide great homes and opportunities these kids would not have gotten in the homes they came from. However, there are others who have made Foster Care the new career for many upward mobile people, including black people. The ones in demand seem to be the white special need kids that pays double. So many black folks, including some I know who are borderline racist, with 3, 4 and 5 white kids. I guess next we will see the grand wizard of the KKK taking in 5 black special needs kids to pay that Bentley car note!Ummmm Just a few thoughts for today! Again, thank God its Monday! Wow we are blessed and nothing we can do about it except enjoy!!!!!
