Good Morning FB friends......Merry Christmas....if you believe in the true meaning of Christmas and believe there is a Heaven as I do, my sister, Ada Kay, is smiling because I did the right thing yesterday evening.....I continued the Christmas Eve dinner she started after my Mother passed. Last year she died on December 1st which was Sunday after Thanksgiving and we did not have the Christmas Eve dinner but this year we did and it was held at my house and I invited Lisa and Aaron and Buddy Webster and other family and friends, and we had a great meal.....ham and turkey and I made homemade scalloped potatoes and lots of side dishes and deserts and traded gifts.....just like years in the past with Ada Kay.....it was a special time in the past and a tradition now carried forward. and something important to Ada Kay just like our family getting together at Thanksgiving. There is a special edition of the Moorefield Examiner this week and on the front page it states Curtain Call on 2014 and there is a picture of me along with four other pictures in the center of the front page... The picture is one that appeared on the front page of the Examiner back in August showing Kim Hartman dumping a bucket of ice cold water over my head at the courthouse and although the picture is me it is really not about me but is an example of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that captured our community and Country. But when you open the pages of the Moorefield Examiner it talks about the top news stories of the year and the County Commission controversy was number one; however, the second top story of the year was the 100 Year Hardy County Courthouse Celebration and i was the Chairman of the event and it makes me proud to see that what I and many others did got such recognition .....this was a nice Christmas gift to see the hard work and giving back to the community was rewarded by such recognition. By now most children have gotten up and opened their gifts and are delighted and I just hope that no children were left out this year. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ but it is also about giving just as he gave his life freely for our sins and through his grace he gives each of us an opportunity for eternal life. We each need to give back and help others ....not just our children but others in our community, and Christmas is a symbol of the importance of giving. Merry Christmas to all my FB friends and I hope you and your family have a wonderful day and try not to eat too much.....I know i did.
