Good Morning Fb! Today, I am meditating on the subject: “WHY SHOULD WE READ THE WORD OF GOD? “ I begin my spiritual discussion by analyzing four scriptures that emphasize the importance of the Word of God: 1) “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Luke 11:28 We as faithful believers in Jesus Christ are bestowed a divine special favor when we live by the Word of God. 2) “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:7 At this point in biblical history, the Apostles were guided by the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel which allowed the great spread of Christianity throughout Palestine and beyond. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 Our personal faith in DIRECTLY connected to us being ministered through our spirit minds by God’s Word. An unbeliever can find Jesus by reading God’s Word without ever hearing a sermon! “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:17 One of the SIX key parts (1-helmet of salvation, 2-breastplate of righteousness, 3-belt of truth, 4-shield of faith, 5-SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, and 6-feet shod with peace) of our spiritual armor is the sword which is the Word of God which can be utilized BOTH as an offensive and defensive weapon when applied to trials, tribulations, addictions, afflictions, etc. encountered in our attempts to conquer Satan. The Bible is the Inspired Word of God! “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15 It is not just a book written by men! “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:21 It is profitable to anyone who reads it! “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” II Timothy 3:16-17 God’s Word is Eternal. (No beginning & no end)- It was in the beginning! “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 It will be in the end! He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. Revelation 21:6 Jesus is God’s Word! The Word became flesh- “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 Old and New Testaments lead us to Jesus! “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.” Luke 24:44 Thus, when we come to believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, there should be a hunger for God’s Word, since Jesus is God’s Word. Jesus Promised to Reveal Himself to Us through His Word! “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 The Holy Spirit will teach us God’s Word- “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 The Holy Spirit will always lead us to give Jesus all the glory! “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” John 16:13-15 The person biblically referred to as “The Word” out of whose mouth was spoken the godly words by which we profess our faith, heighten our Christian understanding, and promote our religious awareness of God-JESUS CHRIST-can be found in the Holy Bible in BOTH the OLD & NEW Testaments! Isaiah 53 and All Four Gospels-Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John So when we study the Bible, we should always expect to find our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST! Jesus Christ the same yesterday, to day and for ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:8 Everyone have a very blessed day!!!
