Good Morning! Happy Hump Day! A bad, bad optic to kick off Day One - TopicsExpress

Good Morning! Happy Hump Day! A bad, bad optic to kick off Day One of the government shutdown: Elderly veterans in wheelchairs breaking down barriers at the World War II Memorial in DC. Its never good to deny heroes a chance to see a dearly held memorial because a group of lawmakers cant get their sh** together. So, why not government a la carte? Senator Ted Cruz: I think we ought to start passing continuing resolutions narrowly focused on each of the things the president listed...He says he plans to close every national park, lets fund a continuing resolution funding the Interior, keeping the parks open. One at a time, lets demonstrate the same bipartisan cooperation we saw today with the military and address all of these people that hes holding out as will suffer. The Republican-led House tried just that yesterday, and the idea went up in flames. But, fear not! The House will try again today to pass a similar a la carte budget. Also in the news: The Obamacare health care exchanges are up and running and glitch-filled. Well talk to a woman who endured three hours of trying to sign up for insurance. And she wont find out until Friday if she qualifies for the Silver Plan. Also: Jacksonvilles airport has re-opened after a day of chaos. Two suspicious packages -- one in the terminal and one in the garage -- effectively shut-down the airport for hours. Police say one of those devices was dangerous. Well also talk more about Hollywood Stuntz, the motorcycle club that surrounded an SUV on New Yorks West Side Highway. Two bikers arrested. And now the driver of the SUV may be charged. Its getting uglier and uglier. And Gravity opens this weekend! You know, the lost in space movie starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Can I just say Im there! See you at 9 and 10 AM ES.
