Good Morning, My name is Laura Campbell, I work for Public Health and this summer we are doing a project to consult with community members in Wellington, Dufferin and Guelph to hear what they think about smoke-free outdoor spaces. Many municipalities in Ontario restrict smoking in outdoor spaces such as parks, playgrounds, and sports fields. This is because smoke-free outdoor spaces: •Decrease negative role modeling for young people •Protect the environment and reduce litter •Provide protection from direct exposure to second-hand smoke & •Increase motivation for smokers to quit or cut back We have recently launched a survey to gage public’s opinion regarding smoke-free outdoor spaces and we really want to hear from parents, child care providers and people who use outdoor spaces such as parks, playgrounds, sports fields ect. The survey link can be found at: fluidsurveys/s/OutdoorSmokingSurvey/ We have printed post cards with some information and also the survey link and was hoping that you would consider letting parents know about the survey so that they can weigh in on the issue.
