Good Morning! News 5.7.2014 1. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is unlikely to heed economists suggestion that an inheritance tax be introduced in Budget 2014-­15 as an additional revenue stream. 2. Petroleum minister rules out sudden, steep price hikes and stressed on persuading states not to levy additional taxes where these are not justified. 3. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley sought to play down fears of a drought saying it was premature to panic, but private forecaster Skymet said chances of a failed monsoon had risen to 60% from 25%. Meanwhile, the government increased the pressure on traders and declared that offences such as hoarding would be made non-bailable. 4. Tata Power has signed an option agreement to sell its five per cent stake in a coal mine in Indonesia, PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), for close to $250 million to the Bakrie group.
