Good Morning.....Or So sad News....! AALO, Nov 12: 70 well-built houses were gutted down in a devastating fire that broke out at Kerang village under Kaying Circle in West Siang district around 1.30am this morning rendering many families homeless. The fire victims lost properties worth crores of rupees in the fire mishap. The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu, SP Mari Riba, DSO T. Ketan rushed to the spot after getting the information to take stock of the situation. The DC has announced 20 quintals of rice and emergency relief in cash to the victims. He has assured to take up the matter with State Chief Minister and MLA concerned to give all possible assistances from their side. The army and ITBP will also be kept in touch to put emergency tents for the victims. Consoling the weeping women of the village, the DC appealed villagers to unite in the hour of crisis without accusing each other. The DC assured to depute Aalo ADC, EAC Kaying and DDMO to look into damages and keep in touch with the administration for any emergency needs. The hanging bridge with span of more than 100m connecting the village on the right bank of the river is also in bad shape and assured to look into ways and means for the maintenance of the bridge. DIPRO Meanwhile, concerned about the devastating Kerang fire accident, Adi Baane Kebang wrote a letter to Director of Relief & Rehabilitation, Itanagar today. The ABK said that although no loss of life is reported but properties worth crores of rupees were destroyed in the fire accident. The people could not take out any of their properties and victims are in urgent need of clothing and utensils with ration materials. The ABK appealed to the Director to initiate necessary steps in this regard and to provide necessary household relief materials and also urged the Director to sanction an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs as immediate and urgent assistance to the victims. The ABK also urged the Director to provide long term relief assistance to the fire victims for reconstruction of their dwelling houses and compensate their total losses as per the lost estimate of the concerned government officials. ABK West Siang Unit also appealed the state government to provide immediate relief to the victims and also submitted a memorandum to the EAC Kaying to provide all possible help to the fire victims.
