Good Morning. There are so many people today, Christians included, who consistently desire to be great. We continue to repeat the statement “we must be the head and not the tail” as if we believe that God expects us to be better than others. In Matt. 18:4 the Lord provided the perfect answer to the question asked by His disciples regarding greatness. Jesus said, “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” What is it about a little child that we indicate “greatness”? Here God is reminding us to shift our focus away from the concept of greatness to the importance of submission. Little children are very submissive, gentle and obedient. They follow instructions without questioning. They are willing to go wherever they are taken without a fuss. They did not carry grudges and are not competitive. It is the innocence of a little child that God wants to place in our hearts so that we would become true disciples of the Lord of the Universe. Unless we are willing to allow the Lord to convert our hearts from arrogance to innocence, we stand the chance to losing eternal life. I pray that we will take some time today to consider the state of our heart and surrender ourselves totally to the control of the Holy Spirit so that an eternal transformation can take place in our lives.
