Good Morning, Vietnam! Hmmmm. wait! Wrong country! :-) Well, top of the morning, everyone! Ive now been in this part of the world for one week. Some observations. 1.) Its hot! Its really, really hot, especially for this Alaskan blood! Well, I did begin my adventure here during the hot season. :-) 2.) The Ping River is not the Kenai River. Its not every the Cuyahoga River. Its not exactly crystal clear! 3.) The traffic! Well, it could be Bangkok! Looking both ways here means looking both ways until your neck aches just to be sure! 4.) The people are super friendly...and their English is much better than my Thai! :-) 5.) I live in a part of the city with a fair amount of expatriates and tourists, and a large percentage are not American. I hear lots and lots of different languages as I walk around town. 6.) There are many strange and wonderful tropical sounds I did not hear while living in the frozen north. At least Ive not experienced too much of the strange and wonderful little critters either running across the floor or flying through the air...at least not yet! 7.) The bathrooms here are super small. In fact, the shower and toilet are right next to each other in mine, separated only by the curtain. Wait, I could take care of two things at once if I move the curtain! :-) 8) I passed a restaurant called, Ping River Seafood. I think not!! 9.) Due to the paper thin walls here at the guest house, I can hear sounds from rooms other than the French people playing John Denver songs and singing along for 3 hours straight. Im hoping such is not the case in my new residence! :-) 10.) Ive decided to wait until things stop moving around before eating them!
