WTSA news is brought to you by The Cheshire Horse justoff Route 10 in Swanzey A task force has been established to investigate violent disturbances near Keenes annual pumpkin festival that led to property damage, dozens of arrests and many injuries over the weekend. Keene Police Chief Kenneth Meola is inviting residents to submit videos or pictures of any criminal activity. The parties around Keene State College coincided with the Keene Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, when the community tries to set a world record of the largest number of carved and lighted jack-o-lanterns in one place. Keene Mayor Kendall Lane says it’s too soon to determine the festival’s future. Keene State College president Anne Huot says they are viewing photos and videos of the disturbance to see who might be involved and any Keene State students will be subject to an expedited discipline process. Vermont state police are seeking information about a Marlboro burglary. Monday morning authorities responded to a Stratton Hill Road residence for a report of an unsecure premises. Shortly after State Police received a complaint of a burglary from a second residence, also on Stratton Hill Road. Troopers found that both homes had been burglarized. The victims were not present during the burglaries. There are currently no suspects, the state police are seeking any information that could help solve these incidents. Brattleboro select board members tonight will hear from the town’s police fire committee, who say any revised plan should deal with both the police and fire stations. Select board members had asked the group to return with plans for a fire upgrade, but to wait on the police facilities until a new site could be found. The board meets tonight at 615, with a 530 closed session on a contractual matter. Candidates competing in New Hampshires 2nd Congressional District are accusing each other of being missing in action. In a televised debate Monday on WBIN TV, Republican Marilinda Garcia criticized Democratic incumbent Annie Kuster for not holding town hall meetings, and accused her of putting President Barack Obamas agenda ahead of constituent concerns. Kuster says its Garcia who has ignored constituents by missing more than a third of the votes during her time in the state Legislature. The Vermont Attorney Generals office is going to be hosting the first of three hearings on its proposed rules for the labeling of food products made with genetically modified organisms. Last week the attorney generals office released a draft of the rules it is writing to govern the states first-in-the-nation law to require the labeling of food made with GMOs. Tuesdays hearing is going to be held in Burlington. A Brattleboro hearing will be held Friday.
