Good Morning. We are going to behold the face of Jesus only if our lamps are trimmed and burning bright at His second coming. Using the parable of the five wise and five foolish virgins, Jesus reminded His hearers of the important of preparation prior to the second coming of Jesus. In Matt. 25:13 Jesus said, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” In the Strong Concordance the Greek word for watch, a verb, means “to take heed lest through remission and indolence some destructive calamity suddenly overtake one.” In this parable Jesus emphasize that there will be two groups of people present on the earth prior to His coming. One group would have done some preparation in anticipation of the coming of the “bridegroom” for the marriage supper. At the same time, the other group, through retardation and laziness, had done no adequate preparation. Consequently, they were not allowed in the marriage supper and by extension lost eternal life. This morning God is reminding us that we should not be like the 5 foolish virgins. We should spend some time getting ready for the seconding coming of Jesus. If we wait until the blowing of the trumpet at the second coming of Jesus that will definitely be too late. Jesus is coming soon. While it’s important to occupy until He comes, at this point it is very important that we spend a significant amount of time communing with the Lord, surrendering to the total control of the Holy Spirit, and feeding on the word of God so that we can have our lamps trimmed and burning bright. Very soon the skies shall unfold… Will you be ready for His second coming? I pray that we will all be ready so that when the trumpet sounds all of us who die in Christ will be resurrected to meet Him in the air.
