Good Morning and Happy New Year! With the new year here many of you will set the goal of eating healthier. Often that includes increasing seafood consumption. However, making good choices is often very confusing. Knowing which seafood is commonly high in mercury, what seafood are fished in a sustainable way and knowing which fishing practices are safe? I discovered a few excellent web-sites that helps clear up some of those muddy waters, pun intended. * seafoodwatch.org/ has many resourses for the consumer and commercial buyer on purchasing seafood in a sustainable and safe way. * ewg.org/research/ewgs-good-seafood-guide A quick and easy tool to help you determain mercury in seafood and limits based on your age, weight, and other factors. * seafoodhealthfacts.org/seafood_choices/overview.php Not as user friendly as the two above, but filled with information about heath facts, mercury levels, consumable amounts and more. Eating seafood in an excellent way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But we have to be responsible about how we take seafood from the waters and the amount of certain fish we should consume. Hope you enjoy these links. Be food safe my friends, Sue Farace, CP-FS
